Why Join a TBA Section?

Members of the Tennessee Bar Association have the opportunity to join sections as part of their annual membership renewal or at any other time throughout the year. Section memberships are reasonably priced and pay for themselves with savings on section-sponsored CLE programs.

Sections are established by the TBA Board of Governors to investigate, discuss and evaluate trends and activities in specialized areas of the law, make appropriate recommendations to the board regarding legislation and provide continuing legal education. The TBA currently offers 33 sections organized around practice area. See the list of available groups.

Each section offers a variety of educational opportunities, publications, and both in-person and virtual networking opportunities. Annual CLE forums keep practioners up to date on the latest legislative, judicial and regulatory developments in the field. Each section produces an electronic newsletter that features news and substantive legal updates. Section members are invited to submit articles for publication consideration. In-person networking options include section receptions, practice-specific pro bono volunteer opportunities, and special events such as TBA Day on the Hill and Big Shrimp legislative reception where section members can connect with colleagues and state legislators. And virtual networking options include section e-communities and the Section Talk portal where section members can pose questions of colleagues and engage in dialog about issues specific to the practice area.

If you are passionate about your practice area and want to take your TBA membership to the next level, getting involved in a section is your next best step! Don’t miss the opportunity to:
