Q. I am looking for a lawyer. How do I find one?

A. You can use a referral service, seek recommendations or check legal service resources. Learn more on our Find an Attorney page.

Q. I cannot afford an attorney, can you help me?

A. Low-income Tennesseans have helpful resources they can access when they have legal issues. First, consider what services you may qualify for. Learn more at our What is Legal Aid? page.

Among the resources are the website Help4TN.org and a toll-free telephone hotline at 888-HELP4TN or (888) 395-9297, which both offer information and access to referrals and legal advice. TN Free Legal Answers is an online program that allows attorneys to answer legal questions from low-income Tennesseans.

Bar associations, the Tennessee Access to Justice Commission and legal aid and community organizations across the state also support standing legal clinics throughout the year.

You can also contact local legal aid groups across the state. (These organizations also have helpful information and resources on their websites.)
