ARTIST IN THE COURTROOM COMPETITION INFORMATION
The TBA YLD Mock Trial Committee is pleased to include the Courtroom Artist Contest to the Tennessee High School Mock Trial Competition. The Courtroom Artist Contest is a competition that allows artistically talented students the opportunity to participate in the Mock Trial Program. The Courtroom Artist Contest will be conducted at the district competition level. The top three entries will be announced at the Tennessee High School State Mock Trial Competition in Nashville on March 20-21, 2026. The top student artist will be eligible to represent Tennessee at the National High School Mock Trial Championship's Courtroom Artist Competition in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 7-9, 2026.
REGISTRATION
Students may register here. The registration deadline is January 23, 2026. Only two student artists from the same high school or educational institution may compete.
COMPETITION RULES
The official rules for the Courtroom Artist Competition can be found in Section III of the Rules of Competition. (TBA)
JUDGING
Sketches will be evaluated and scored anonymously by a judging team appointed by the Mock Trial Chair. Students may view a sample judging scoresheet here.
RELEASE
All courtroom artist submissions become the property of the TBA and may be used for any purpose it deems appropriate, including but not limited to reproduction and dissemination, with recognition to the student artist. Participating students must submit an executed release form on or before the January 23, 2026 deadline. The release may be accessed here.
