TBA Launches Program to Provide Support for Legal Community

The Tennessee SOLACE program (Support of Lawyers/Legal Personnel - All Concern Encouraged) has been established as a means to provide support for judges, lawyers, court personnel, paralegals, legal secretaries and their families when they experience a death or some catastrophic illness, injury or other loss.

Started in 2002 by the Louisiana Bar Association, SOLACE has been replicated by bar associations across the country. In Tennessee, we will connect community members who need assistance with clothing, housing, transportation and medical community contacts, among other things. The TBA will send out vetted requests through TBA Today, then connect volunteers directly with the parties in need of help. The TBA does not collect donations or facilitate any transactions related to SOLACE. The TBA only serves to connect members with individuals requesting services.

How it Works

Requests for assistance should be sent to SOLACE@tnbar.org and include the following:

  • Name of party requesting assistance (if parties wish to keep this information confidential, please indicate that request in the email).
  • Details of the defined need.
  • Name of contact for additional questions or follow-up (this is a person or entity that can be listed in the email notification to TBA membership for assistance). For example, a pastor, family friend or attorney have been listed here in other states. Typically this person coordinates responses and facilitates contact with the person in need.
  • Any time constraints or other relevant details.

TBA reserves the right to reject requests that do not meet the requirements under the SOLACE program.
