Award, won for 2nd year in a row, recognizes program for new lawyers

NASHVILLE, May 22, 2012 -- The Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) won a Rich Media Impact Award last week for using technology to help new law school graduates find work during the recession. The award, given by Sonic Foundry -- a video management platform for academic, enterprise and event webcasting -- recognizes outstanding achievement in using rich media to improve awareness, education and outreach.

Annual contest challenges students to explore importance of the courts

NASHVILLE, May 8, 2012 -- Knoxville eighth grader Liana Hu of Farragut Middle School has won first place in a Law Day art contest sponsored by the Tennessee Bar Association, while Gloria Yu, a junior at Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville, took first place in the essay contest.

TBA, Supreme Court & Governor encourage Tennesseans to get involved

Paper on climate change and tort law takes first place in annual contest

NASHVILLE, April 23, 2012 -- William Airhart, a third-year student at Vanderbilt University Law School, has been awarded first place in the Tennessee Bar Association Environmental Law Section's 2012 Jon E. Hastings Memorial Award Writing Competition for his article "After AEP: The Climate Change Tort and the Social Cost of Carbon."

Team to represent Tennessee at national competition

NASHVILLE, March 19, 2012 -- McCallie School of Chattanooga claimed the state high school mock trial championship title this past Saturday, defeating rival school Chattanooga Southeast Tennessee Home Education Association, in the 32nd annual Tennessee State High School Mock Trial Competition. The team now will represent Tennessee at the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Albuquerque, N.M., on May 3-6.

Award presented to Wendee Hilderbrand at luncheon ceremony

NASHVILLE, Jan. 24, 2012 — Nashville lawyer Wendee Hilderbrand was honored with the state's top award for pro bono work at the Tennessee Bar Association's recent public service luncheon. Held each year as part of the association's Leadership Conference, the luncheon featured award winners in several categories and a keynote address by Tennessee Education Commissioner Kevin S. Huffman.
