New senior counselors named at TBA convention in Nashville

NASHVILLE, June 27, 2016 — More than 100 attorneys from across the state were honored as “senior counselors” for their service to the legal profession during the Tennessee Bar Association’s annual convention in Nashville. Senior counselors are those Tennessee Bar Association members who, during the coming membership year will reach 75 years of age or complete 50 years of practice.

Award honors work helping lawyers adapt to emerging legal markets

NASHVILLE, June 27, 2016 – The Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) recognized Nashville lawyer Gail Vaughn Ashworth at its annual meeting last week. Outgoing president Bill Harbison presented Ashworth with the 2016 President’s Award for her work as chair of the TBA’s Special Committee on the Evolving Legal Market. In this role, Ashworth launched a multi-year initiative to research and explore technology-driven changes in the legal marketplace and how they affect lawyers in Tennessee.

Andrée Blumstein recognized for article on summary judgment

YLD, Fellows and DLI meet in conjunction with TBA convention

NASHVILLE, June 22, 2016 — The Tennessee Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (YLD) named new officers and recognized award winners during the TBA’s Annual Convention in Nashville last week. Members of the YLD’s leadership program for law students completed their program, and the Fellows of the YLD elected officers, inducted new members and presented their annual award.

Judge Haynes honored at association’s annual convention

NASHVILLE, June 22, 2016 – U.S. District Court Judge William Joseph Haynes Jr. was honored with the Tennessee Bar Association’s Justice Frank F. Drowota III Outstanding Judicial Service Award at the association’s convention in Nashville last week. Haynes, who serves on the federal District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, was recognized for his outstanding and dedicated service to the courts and the legal community. The award was presented by outgoing TBA President Bill Harbison.

Adams and Reese partner will lead association in 2017-2018

NASHVILLE, June 13, 2016 — Memphis lawyer Lucian T. Pera will take office as president-elect of the Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) at the group’s annual convention this week in Nashville. He will serve in that position during the 2016-2017 bar year and move into the presidency in 2017.

Lewis Thomason shareholder to serve as president in 2018-2019

NASHVILLE, June 13, 2016 — Nashville lawyer Jason Pannu will take office as vice president of the Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) at the group’s annual convention this week in Nashville. After serving a year as vice president, Pannu will ascend to president-elect in 2017 and then lead the association as president beginning in 2018.

INDIANAPOLIS, April 7, 2016 — The TBA today received the 2016 ABA Outstanding Pro Bono Advocacy Award in Medical-Legal Partnership from the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service.

The award was presented in recognition of the TBA’s outstanding leadership in promoting medical-legal partnerships to the legal community, engaging volunteer lawyers and identifying and building relationships within the medical profession, in part through the  formation of a Medical-Legal Partnership Working Group.

Schools from across the state to compete March 18-19 in Nashville

NASHVILLE, March 16, 2016 — High school teams from across Tennessee will put their legal skills to the test during the Tennessee Bar Association's 36th annual mock trial championship in Nashville this weekend, March 18-19. Media is welcome to attend the event at the historic Davidson County Courthouse.
