“Legal Handbook for Tennessee Seniors” recognized by national legal group in Boston today

NASHVILLE, Aug. 7, 2014 – The Tennessee Bar Association today received the LexisNexis Community and Educational Outreach Award for production and distribution of the 2014 Legal Handbook for Tennessee Seniors. The award, given each year by the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE), was presented to the TBA during the NABE Annual Meeting in Boston.

Moses is 1st president from Upper Cumberland, 2nd legal aid lawyer to serve

Legal handbook named best public service project by a Tennessee association

NASHVILLE, July 23, 2014 – For the second consecutive year, the Tennessee Bar Association earned the top public service award from the Tennessee Society of Association Executives. The Legal Handbook for Tennessee Seniors won the Association’s Advance Tennessee Award as the best public service project by an association in the state. The award was presented last week at a luncheon in Nashville.

Wade honored at association's annual convention in Gatlinburg

NASHVILLE, June 25, 2014 – Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Gary R. Wade was honored with the Tennessee Bar Association's Justice Frank F. Drowota III Outstanding Judicial Service Award for his outstanding and dedicated service to the courts and the legal community. The award was presented by outgoing TBA President Cindy Wyrick at a luncheon in Gatlinburg. Former Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Drowota also was on hand to assist in the presentation.

Ingram Selected by Fellow Leadership Class Members for Recognition

NASHVILLE, June 24, 2014 — Nashville lawyer Lynne T. Ingram was presented with the Larry Dean Wilks Leadership Award by fellow members of the Tennessee Bar Association's 2014 Leadership Law class during the group's graduation ceremonies in Gatlinburg. She is the third recipient of the award and the first woman selected for the honor.

Honor given posthumously to Knoxville lawyer Don Paine at TBA Convention

NASHVILLE, June 23, 2014 – The Tennessee Bar Association presented The Joe Henry Award for Outstanding Legal Writing Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously to Donald F. Paine at its annual convention in Gatlinburg. Paine is the first recipient of the award, which recognizes the profound contributions he made to the Tennessee Bar Journal and to legal writing in Tennessee.

First-ever TBA poll asked Tennessee lawyers to evaluate Supreme Court justices facing retention election

GATLINBURG, June 13, 2014 -- Nine out of 10 lawyers recommend that Tennesseans vote to "retain" the three Tennessee Supreme Court Justices on the Aug. 7 ballot. That's the result of a Tennessee Bar Association Candidate Evaluation Poll conducted over the last two weeks.
