This year's in-person CLE lineup will bring together an esteemed group of panelists and speakers with multiple legal tracks to cover a variety of timely, essential topics in today's evolving legal field. Hot topics include the intersection of sports and law with some familiar leaders in the sports world, labor and employment updates, mediation ethics (CME), the impact of policing in America, legal technology, attorney well being and more! BENCH/BAR PROGRAM: Where Law and Sports Come Together (2.25 General) 

Get in the game and kick off TBA Convention with a "bench meets the bar" program dedicated to Tennessee sports history that includes a discussion with Joan Cronan on what it is to be a leader, a session with the authors of "Full Court Pressexamining the legal history of women's basketball and conclude with a session dedicated to NIL and what you need to know as an attorney. CLE: Top 10 Employment Law Updates All Tennessee Lawyers Should Know About (1.75 General)

Employment law issues arise in a multitude of legal practice areas.  Attorneys handling the sales and purchase of businesses frequently review and draft employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and assess potential exposure across the gamut of employment claims.  Corporate counsel are often the front line for HR policy and procedure review, and evaluate and navigate employment and employee benefit issues on a daily basis.  General litigators frequently run across employment issues adjacent to other disputes.  And solo and small firm practitioners are confronted by any and all of these issues. 

This session will discuss the Top 10 emerging issues in federal and state employment law that all Tennessee lawyers should know about to effectively spot issues, help their clients navigate them, and identify resources to do so effectively.

There are around 18,000 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, all with their own rules. Leaders from Knoxville Police Department, Chattanooga Police Department and Nashville Police Department will serve on this panel with a Federal Public Defendant and former Assistant District Attorney to discuss Policing in America: the good and the bad and how both impact the communities they serve. We will also discuss changing the narrative and better serving our communities.

CLE: Attorney Wellness Inside and Out: A Two-Part Panel Discussion on How to Improve Your Own Well Being and the Impact of Mentoring on Group Well Being presented by the TBA Young Lawyers Division, TBA Attorney Well Being Committee and TBA Mentoring Committee (1.75 Dual)

In recent years, there has been an ever-increasing awareness of the challenges of maintaining wellbeing while working in the legal field though it often can be the key to building and maintaining a successful and fulfilling legal career.  This two-part program will feature a panel of judges and attorneys who will candidly discuss the challenges of managing wellbeing in the legal field both on an individual level and a group level. 

In Part One, the panel discussion will focus on the impact wellbeing (or lack of) has on productivity; how to establish healthy and sustainable habits; how to reach out and seek support from those inside and outside of the workplace, including finding sponsors and mentors); and how mentoring can be used as a tool to promote individual and group wellbeing for those of all ages and experience levels.

In Part Two, the panel will discuss finding professional help (including therapists) and experiences from attorneys that have embracing their vulnerabilities to come out stronger on the other side.
