Joe Saulsbury with the Kingsport Area Christian Home Education Association (KACHEA) took third place in the Best Advocate for the Prosecution category.

Elizabeth Saulsbury with the Kingsport Area Christian Home Education Association (KACHEA) was named Best Advocate for the Defense.

Recognition of Bob Oliver

Bob Oliver, faculty advisor of the McCallie School team, is recognized at the competition award ceremony for his contributions to the Tennessee mock trial program. He is retiring this spring after 21 years of teaching and coaching mock trial teams at the school. Download a high resolution version

Recognition of Philippa Thompson

Mock Trial Committee Chair Marisa Combs asks competitors to remember long-time mock trial volunteer Philippa Thompson, who died unexpectedly on March 1. As part of an effort by Philippa's friends, a "Flat Philippa" -- modeled after the Flat Stanley story -- made an appearance at the competition.

Best Witness Honorable Mention
Sam Snider with the White Station High School Gray Team of Memphis was recognized for winning four ballots for best witness -- two for his testimony as a prosecution witness and two for his testimony as a defense witness. Though he fell short of winning the best witness award for either category, the winning of four ballots was a significant achievement.
