The TBA will host its 30th Annual Labor & Employment Law Forum on May 1 in Nashville. The daylong program, held at the Tennessee Bankers Association building, will feature sessions on return-to-the-workplace issues, Federal Trade Commission noncompete rules and trade secrets, wage and hour developments, and an ethics session addressing sexual harassment and assault. The TBA’s 21st Annual Bankruptcy Law Forum will take place April 24-25 in Gatlinburg. The two-day program offers attorneys updates on developments in bankruptcy law while allowing time to explore the Great Smoky Mountains. The event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn and includes a Friday evening networking reception and dinner as part of the registration cost. Attendees may bring guests for an additional charge. After its IP webcast series installment on April 1, the TBA Intellectual Property Section will host its next series session on April 8 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. CDT. This webcast will explore how LKQ Corp. v. GM Global Tech. Operations LLC changed the obviousness test for design patents and what the change means on a practical level for design patent practitioners. Attendees also will learn how examiner training post-LKQ may impact design prosecution and how to handle obviousness rejections in the current landscape. The TBA is offering replays of four sessions from its Conference on AI & the Law, beginning with “AI-Generated Evidence and the Courts” on Feb. 25 at noon CST examining deepfakes, disputed AI-created evidence and best practices for lawyers and judges. On Feb. 26 at noon CST, “AI Gadgets, Toys and Apps (and some that wish they were AI)” will explore emerging AI-powered tools and their practical value for legal professionals. Two sessions follow on Feb. 27: “AI Policing vs. Policing AI” at noon CST will focus on law enforcement’s use of artificial intelligence and its admissibility in Tennessee criminal trials, while “AI, Legal Ethics and UPL” at 3 p.m CST will address ethical rules governing lawyer use of AI and questions surrounding the unauthorized practice of law.
