You'll feel like you were in that chilly Williamson County courthouse following the contentious 1810 trial of a Shelbyville murder when you read columnist Russell Fowler's account of it in the recent Tennessee Bar Journal.  "Lawyered by the best, [the lawyers] set an example for the bench, bar and populace of how it should be done," Fowler writes. "And, except for some outrageous behavior by Andrew Jackson" — and you're going to want to read about that — "the lawyers demonstrated they could be fierce advocates in the courtroom yet remain good friends and colleagues."

Take a quick look back 50 years when Joe Henry was installed as TBA president, some years before he joined the Tennessee Supreme Court. Later that year, The Tennessee Lawyer reported that both gubernatorial candidates — Republican Winfield Dunn and Democrat John J.
