Antebellum Axe Crime: A Remote Cabin, a Murdered Family and a Mystery

"Few crimes in antebellum America shocked the nation as did the brutal axe murders that took place in the shadow of Cumberland Mountain, then located in Overton County, Tennessee, in September 1846," Russell Fowler writes. The great Tennessee Supreme Court Judge William B.
