Join members of the TBA Attorney Well Being Committee for a live interactive roundtable on how best to manage work-life balance as a legal professional. This 45-minute Zoom event on Sept. 25 at 12:30 p.m. CDT will feature attorneys discussing their day-to-day practice, and provide effective tools for personal well-being. While geared toward law students and young lawyers, this free event is open to all TBA members, but registration is required. Questions and feedback are encouraged. The TBA Attorney Well Being Committee on Sept. 24 will host a free webinar on the importance of sleep. Attorney Well Being Committee Chair Joanna McCracken and Director of the Vanderbilt University Medical Sleep Division Dr. Beth Malow will detail what happens when we sleep, why sleep is critical to our wellbeing and ability to thrive, the mental and physical health dangers of not prioritizing sleep, and tips and tools to help you improve nightly slumber. The TBA Women in the Profession Committee will host a free webcast on March 21 on the topic “The Nuts & Bolts of TLAP: Who We Are, Who We Help and How We Do It.” The event will feature Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP) clinical staff Erin Lynch and Lauren Castor, who will discuss how the program can be a valuable resource to women attorneys. The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT. Registration is required. One hour of dual CLE credit will is available to attorneys who certify attendance for and watch this webinar live.

The TBA Attorney Well Being Committee will present a free one-hour webinar on Oct. 25 to help lawyers explore preemptive and restorative strategies to shield themselves from burnout. Nashville attorneys Brad Bald and Brigid Caldwell will lead the discussion, sharing insights about their personal paths to wellbeing. The event, Attorney Armor: Shielding Yourself from the Flames of Burnout, will run from noon to 1 p.m. CDT. Register here for the Zoom presentation.

Tune in tomorrow at noon CDT for a free webinar presented by the TBA Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity and hear panelists discuss the life of an in-house attorney. Participants, representing government, corporate and educational settings, will describe how they manage outside counsel, work-life balance and the changing legal landscape. Join us as we explore the science and advocacy related to this practice. Joanna McCracken, chair of the TBA’s Attorney Well Being Committee, will interview Dr. Beth Malow, director of the Vanderbilt Sleep Division, who has testified on the health aspects related to the practice of changing clocks and has spearheaded legislation to end Daylight Saving Time in Tennessee.
