TBA's Estate Planning Section is offering a free virtual program on March 30 to explore how forensic genealogy can be used in the legal setting. Christine E. Neumann, a professional forensic genealogist with over 25 years of research experience, will discuss how forensic genealogy be used to identify and locate missing or unknown heirs and beneficiaries. Neumann will discuss the most important aspects to be considered when hiring a forensic genealogist and how to make the most of the genealogist-attorney partnership. The TBA Appellate Practice Section will host a free webinar on e-filing in Tennessee appellate courts on Monday from noon to 1 p.m. CST. This event will review the special formatting requirements for e-filed briefs and provide guidance for navigating the online filing portal. Presenters also will discuss how people read differently in an electronic format — as opposed to print — and how this affects formatting and document design. Presented by Erin Aiello, a law enforcement trainer with the Humane Society of the United States, and University of Tennessee College of Law Professor Joan Heminway, the event will provide insights into intimate partner violence cases and offer strategies to help keep people and their pets safe. The Tennessee Bar Association’s Disability Law Section will host a Zoom videoconference roundtable discussion on July 21 at 2:30 p.m. CDT. The event will be an open discussion guided by Administrative Law Judge Randolph W. Alden, who will address the return of in-person hearings. The session is free to all TBA members but registration is required. The section also is making plans for its 2022 Annual Forum. As part of a new initiative, the TBA Criminal Justice Section has begun surveying candidates in contested district attorney general races across the state to raise awareness of their positions and priorities for the office. In this first edition, we hear from candidates in the hotly contested Davidson County District Attorney General race: Davidson County District Attorney General Glenn Funk (incumbent), Sara Beth Myers and P.
