The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands is accepting applications for a reentry attorney and a family law attorney. The reentry attorney represents income-eligible clients in civil cases that address barriers to reentry created by interaction with the criminal justice system. The family law attorney will represent survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or human trafficking with a focus on divorce and orders of protection in Davidson and Williamson counties. The Office of the Attorney General and Reporter is hiring for three positions in Nashville. The first, an assistant attorney general for the Environmental Division, would provide legal advice to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. At least two years of experience as a practicing attorney is preferred, but a candidate with less experience and a demonstrated interest in environmental law may be considered. The second position is for an assistant attorney general to provide advice to state departments and represent the state in federal litigation where deprivations of civil rights are alleged. Experience in trial or appellate litigation is preferred. The final position is for an employee relations director to identify best practices to prevent workplace misconduct and incidents that violate anti-harassment policies. A minimum of five years of legal practice with a focus on employment law, human resources or employee relations is required.

The first opening is for a transactional and regulatory counsel, who would be responsible for providing legal advice on software and technology licensing, intellectual property development, mergers and acquisitions, distribution transactions, privacy, data security and e-commerce. This position requires at least five years of experience. The second opening is for an employment and compliance counsel, who would be responsible for providing advice on employment law issues including hiring, discipline, terminations, pay and benefits, and human resources policies and procedures. This position requires at least seven years of experience.

West Tennessee Legal Services is now accepting applications for two attorney positions in its Victim Rights Project. The Safe Hope Center/Victims Rights Attorney will be based primarily at the Safe Hope Center in Jackson and will collaborate with the Jackson Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit, District Attorney’s domestic violence prosecutor and the Women’s/Men’s Rape Assistance Program. The Victim Rights Attorney will be based in Jackson and requires travel to WTLS’ 17-county service area. The attorney will provide civil legal assistance to domestic violence and crime victims. The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments is now accepting applications for the Court of Criminal Appeals, Western Section, vacancy created by the death of Judge John Everett Williams on Sept. 2. Applicants must be licensed attorneys who are at least 30 years old, a resident of the state for five years and a resident of Tennessee’s Western Grand Division.
