The Tennessee Bar Association invites you to join an exclusive Law & Culture in Ireland CLE program in May 2024. A four night trip to Dublin and a six night trip to Dublin and Belfast are available. In conjunction with CLEAbroad, travelers will engage with local experts, academics, officials and change makers who will offer in-depth commentary on the EU and UK legal-political systems, economics, environmental justice, history and religion. In Dublin, the group also will explore ancient castles, visit landmarks, museums and notable legal institutions, and sample local cuisine. In Belfast, travelers will learn about the region's unique political history, Good Friday Agreement, ongoing reconciliation efforts and peace process. The investiture ceremony for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Rachel Ralston Mancl will be held Sept. 29 at 1:30 p.m. EDT, with a reception to follow. Details will be updated closer to the event. Mancl was sworn in at a private ceremony in April 2022. She succeeds Chief Judge Shelley D. Rucker who had been the acting bankruptcy judge in Greeneville since former Chief Bankruptcy Judge Marcia Phillips Parsons retired in September 2020.

The Arts & Business Council's Volunteer Lawyers and Professionals for the Arts is joining the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, Nashville Bar Foundation and Country Music Association to provide free legal services for nonprofits and Black-owned small businesses in Nashville on July 20. Advice will cover business formation, corporate governance, contracts and navigating local ordinances and state regulations. Eligible entities may receive up to one hour of assistance. Registration is now open for the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services (TALS) Equal Justice University (EJU) conference. The annual event, co-sponsored by the TBA, is set for Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. This year’s conference will include more than 30 CLE sessions, basic 101 skills sessions for those new to particular practice areas and presentation of the Access to Justice Awards. The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands will hold two clinics next week. On Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. EDT, the group will hold a clinic at its Oak Ridge office, 575 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Ste. 201, Oak Ridge 37830. On Saturday, a general advice clinic will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. CDT at Belmont University, 2005 12th Ave. S., Nashville 37204.
