Join members of the TBA Attorney Well Being Committee for a live interactive roundtable for law students and young lawyers on how best to manage work-life balance as a legal professional. This 45-minute Zoom event on Sept. 25 at 12:30 p.m. CDT will feature seasoned lawyers discussing their day-to-day practice, and provide effective tools for personal well-being. The event is free and open to all currently enrolled law students and TBA members but registration is required. Questions and feedback are encouraged for this interactive roundtable. The TBA Attorney Well Being Committee on Sept. 24 will host a free webinar on the importance of sleep. Attorney Well Being Committee Chair Joanna McCracken and Director of the Vanderbilt University Medical Sleep Division Dr. Beth Malow will detail what happens when we sleep, why sleep is critical to our wellbeing and ability to thrive, the mental and physical health dangers of not prioritizing sleep, and tips and tools to help you improve nightly slumber. Join the Tennessee Department of Revenue (DOR) on July 10 at 8:30 a.m. CDT for a free webinar specifically designed for new businesses. Participants will learn about state tax obligations for new businesses, as well as other resources that may help their business. Each new business webinar, offered quarterly, covers topics such as tax registration, sales and use tax, business tax, franchise and excise taxes, and how to get help from the DOR, as well as other relevant state agencies.

East Tennessee Lawyers Association of Women (ETLAW) will host its Summer Social event July 25 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. EDT at Printshop Beer Co., 1532 Island Home Ave., Knoxville 37920, at which attendees can screen print their own tote bags. The Knoxville Bar Association and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, in partnership with Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET), will hold a Debt Relief Clinic on Aug. 17 to provide pro bono legal services to income-eligible consumer debtors in Knox, Blount, Loudon and Sevier counties. The clinic will begin at 8:45 a.m. EDT at the Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office, 1101 Liberty St., Knoxville 37919. Volunteer lawyers will conduct initial meetings with the clients to discuss their situations and options. Those interested in helping should register online.

Registration is now open for the next free advice clinic for Black-owned small businesses and nonprofits, set for July 19 in Nashville. The clinic, sponsored by the Arts & Business Council's Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts and Bradley, provides assistance with business formation and corporate governance, review of contracts and guidance in navigating local ordinances and state regulations. Prospective clients should register by July 15. Attorneys should email vlpa@abcnashville.org to volunteer.

The Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference (TNDAGC) will host the South East Prosecutor Job Fair on June 24. The event will feature representatives from a variety of prosecutor offices from Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and South Carolina.
