The Tennessee Department of Revenue will host a free live webinar on March 26 at 9 a.m. CDT to discuss recent franchise and excise tax law changes included in the 2023 Tennessee Works Tax Act. The East Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women (ETLAW) will hold a reception with law students from the University of Tennessee College of Law and Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law on March 19 from 5-7 p.m. EDT. The American Bar Association’s (ABA) Task Force for American Democracy will hold the second in a series of listening tour events this Friday in Detroit. The session will feature ABA leaders, local officials and legal scholars. The event, titled “Taking the Next Step: Ensuring Trusted Elections and Civics for Michiganders,” will address vital election integrity issues and the need to support poll workers. The Belmont University College of Law’s Legal Aid Society is holding a golf tournament on April 5 from noon to 5 p.m. CDT at the Towhee Golf Club in Spring Hill. Money raised during the "Putt for Pro Bono" tournament will be awarded to law students who commit their summers to working in unpaid, public interest internships. The event also will include a special silent auction item: a private five-course dinner with wine pairings for a group of up to eight people. Get more information or register here. The TBA Women in the Profession Committee will host a free webcast on March 21 on the topic “The Nuts & Bolts of TLAP: Who We Are, Who We Help and How We Do It.” The event will feature Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP) clinical staff Erin Lynch and Lauren Castor, who will discuss how the program can be a valuable resource to women attorneys. The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT. Registration is required. One hour of dual CLE credit will is available to attorneys who certify attendance for and watch this webinar live.

Join the Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP) on March 12 from noon to 2 p.m. CDT for QPR Gatekeeper Training, a free educational training program on suicide prevention. The event will take place in person in the Nashville office of Sherrard Roe Voit & Harbison, 150 3rd Ave S. #1100, Nashville 37201. "Question, Persuade and Refer" (QPR) is designed so that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Those trained in QPR know how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to offer help. Speakers include Lauren Castor, clinical case manager for TLAP and Erin Lynch, a member of the TLAP's Professional Clinical Team. Learn more and register.
