The Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association will host a social networking mixer on Thursday at Bar Louie in midtown Memphis. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito will speak at Belmont University College of Law’s inaugural graduation commencement on May 10, 2014, university officials announced today. College of Law Dean Jeff Kinsler said, “It is an honor for any law school to have a Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court as its commencement speaker, but it is an especially great honor for a law school to have a Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court Justice as its first commencement speaker.”

The Hamilton County Courthouse will host a free concert and laser light show on June 29 from 7 to 10 p.m. as part of the Hamilton County Courthouse Centennial Celebration. Live music from Sweet Georgia Sound, food vendors and children’s activities also will be featured. The Chattanoogan reported the event.

The 7th Annual CASA Road Race will be held June 22 at Crockett Spring Park in downtown Rogersville. The event will include 8K and mile-long races. All proceeds from the event will benefit CASA for Kids, which serves abused and neglected children in Hawkins County. The National Association of Legal Professions Nashville Chapter will host its first annual NALS After Hours Silent Auction on July 18 at 6 p.m. The event will be held at Baker Donelson law firm in Nashville. The Chattanooga-Hamilton County NAACP will host the 6th Annual Criminal Justice Seminar June 8 at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. This year’s event, Let the Dreams Live!, seeks to shed light on how legal issues, social challenges and advents in the law affect social welfare. Featured topics and presentations will include youth- and adult-oriented seminar tracks. Youth presentations include a session by Rosalyn L. Rice, southeast regional coordinator for the Tennessee Commission of Children and Youth, who will discuss children's advocacy, juvenile justice and conflict resolution strategies. Adult tracks will feature presentations on evolving gun laws, inmates’ rights, neighborhood safety and identity theft. The event is free and open to the public.
