Božo Cerar, Slovenian ambassador to the United States, will speak at Univerity of Tennessee College of Law at noon on Oct. 20 in room 136. Cerar’s talk, “The International Criminal Court from Nuremberg to Kampala and Beyond,” will trace and discuss the evolution of international criminal law and the mechanisms for its enforcement on the international level, from the post-World War II period to today.

The Chattanooga chapter of the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Tennessee will sponsor a forum on proposed amendments to Tennessee’s state constitution Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Hamilton County Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd. Speakers will address the organization’s position on the first three amendments and take questions about the proposals. The meeting is free, and open to all interested voters. LWV is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. The Nashville Bar Association (NBA) will hold its Annual Meeting Dec. 4 at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville. A reception for all NBA members will take place at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the program at 7 p.m. The passing of the gavel from President Charles Grant to President-Elect Ed Lanquist, introduction of new officers and presentation of several awards will be highlights of the night.

Former U.S. solicitor general Paul D. Clement will deliver the Rose Lecture at noon on Oct. 24 at the University of Tennessee College of Law. The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the Richard L. Rose Endowed Lecture Series established by Rick Rose, a 1974 alumnus of UT Law and currently the managing director and president of the Coats Rose law firm in Texas.

The Environmental Law Organization (ELO) is hosting the fifth annual Appalachian Public Interest Environmental Law Conference at the University of Tennessee College of Law Oct. 7-19. The conference brings together attorneys, activists, policymakers, funders, philanthropists, students and scientists from across the region to address issues such as fracking, immigration, nuclear weapons, mountain top removal and enforcement of the Clean Water Act.
