The Lebanon-based law firm of Tressler & Associates rescheduled the grand opening of its new office in Mt. Juliet to this week due to inclement weather. The firm will now hold an open house and reception on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at 1400 North Mt. Juliet Rd., Ste 204.

The investiture ceremony for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Suzanne H. Bauknight will take place Friday at 2 p.m. at the Howard H. Baker Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Knoxville. The event will take place in Courtroom 4 with a reception following on the fourth floor. For security purposes, plan to arrive early and have photo identification. Bauknight was sworn in this past fall after being picked by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals to succeed Richard Stair Jr. as bankruptcy judge for the Eastern District of Tennessee.

The Tennessee Justice Center (TJC) is hosting the Nashville Predators' hockey game on March 24. That means that 20 percent of ticket sales from the game will be donated to the TJC if purchased through this link. The Preds will take on the Montreal Canadiens at 7 p.m. that night.

The 5th Annual Joint Conference on Juvenile Justice will feature Alberto Gonzales, former U.S. Attorney General and current Dean of Belmont University’s School of Law. The Montgomery County Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Task Force in partnership with the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth and the MerryInGOD Foundation will sponsor the conference, which will be held April 11 at the Morgan University Center on the campus of Austin Peay State University from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. The Knoxville Bar Association will offer its annual Community Law School this Friday at the O’Connor Senior Center, 611 Winona St., and on Saturday at Fellowship Church, 8000 Middlebrook Pike. The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance will conduct a rulemaking hearing April 22 on a new rule to be known as the “Invest Tennessee Exemption.” The proposed rule would be an addition to current rules governing securities registration and exemptions. The hearing will take place at 2 p.m. Central in Conference Room 8C of the Davy Crockett Tower, 500 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville 37243. The inaugural North Nashville Legal Clinic will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 819 33rd Ave. North, Nashville 37209. Rev. Stephen L. Shields of Memphis will be honored for his contributions to the field of mediation as part of a Mediation Day celebration proclaimed by Gov. Bill Haslam. The Coalition for Mediation Awareness in Tennessee will present the eighth annual Grayfred Gray Public Service in Mediation Award to Shields at Lipscomb University on March 6.
