To mark the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, the Chattanooga Bar Association has invited former White House head of the Special Investigations Unit Egil “Bud” Krogh to be the guest speaker at two Law Day events on May 1: the annual Law Day luncheon at noon and a morning session for high school seniors. Krogh will tell his story about his rise from young presidential counsel to his indictment and prison sentence for authorizing the burglary of Dr. Lewis Fielding’s office in an attempt to discredit Daniel Ellsberg, who released the Pentagon Papers without authorization. The University of Memphis School of Law and the Institute for Health Law & Policy will hold a symposium Friday on “Building Blocks for a Healthier Community.” The event will feature remarks from Sharon Z. Baker Donelson will host a movie screening and book signing at its Nashville office this Thursday in conjunction with the Nashville Public Television and Black History Month. At 5:30 p.m., the firm will show American Denial – the story of researcher and Nobel Laureate Gunnar Myrdal.
