Lawyer volunteers are needed for the free Incarcerated Civil Law Legal Clinic, Sept. 26, 8 a.m - noon at the Shelby County Jail, 201 Poplar Ave. in Memphis. The clinic will offer free legal advice on veteran issues, divorce, bankruptcy and more for the incarcerated and those who cannot afford legal fees.

Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET) will host a free “Tenants’ Rights and Obligations Workshop” for Spanish-speaking residents Oct. 5, 7 p.m. at the Blount County Public Library. The Shelby County Courthouse will hold a renaming ceremony in honor of the late Judge D’Army Bailey this Friday at 1 p.m. The courthouse is located at 140 Adams Ave. in Memphis. Judge Bailey was first elected to the Tennessee’s 30th Judicial District Circuit Court in 1990, then reelected in 1998, 2006 and 2014. He also was a founder of the National Civil Rights Museum.

The National Association of Law Students with Disabilities (NALSWD) announced the elections for its 2015-2016 Executive Board and Junior Officer Committees. In addition, there are several Junior Officer positions that are available to pre-law and law students. Application requirements are due Sept. 30.

The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee will host the investiture of Barbara D. Holmes as U.S. Magistrate Judge on Oct. 6., 3:30 p.m., in the Estes Kefauver Federal Building and Courthouse, Room 874, located at 801 Broadway in Nashville. A reception will follow the ceremony.
