Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Sharon Lee will discuss "Politics in Judicial Races and Recent SCOTUS Decisions” at the Rutherford County Courthouse on Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. WGNS reports that the event is co-hosted by the Murfreesboro Downtown Barristers Lions Club and the League of Women Voters of Murfreesboro/Rutherford County.

The TBA Young Lawyers Division will hold information sessions about the Diversity Leadership Institute this month. The sessions will feature program leaders and graduates, who will provide an overview of the program and application process, as well as answer questions. The first session will take place tomorrow at noon at the University of Tennessee College of Law. A session at the University of Memphis School of Law will take place Oct. 16 at noon. The Lawyers’ Association for Women Marion Griffin Chapter will hold its annual New Admittees’ Breakfast on Nov. 3 at the Nashville Music City Center, Meeting Room 101, 201 Fifth Ave. S. Melanie D. Wilson, dean of the University of Tennessee College of Law, will be the keynote speaker. The program is scheduled for 8 – 9 a.m. The Tennessee Bar Association will also hold an open house and luncheon for the new attorneys. The American Bar Association will offer a free webinar, “Civility & Free Expression: Developing a Public Dialogue through the Arts,” on Oct. 27 from 1 – 2 p.m. EDT. Speakers will share their experiences with being involved in community programming that has utilized the arts to foster conversations on contemporary and controversial issues.

The annual TBA Academy offers an exciting opportunity for Tennessee attorneys to be admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and network with some of the nation’s leading appellate practitioners.
