The Tennessee Supreme Court will hear oral arguments at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in two cases -- one criminal (State of Tennessee v. Michael Smith) and one civil (Donriel A. Borne v. Celadon Trucking Services, Inc.) – on Nov. 5, 1:30 p.m. in the Historic Courtroom.

The Knoxville Bar Association will hold its Annual Memorial Service on Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. in the Supreme Court Courtroom, 505 Main St., with Chief Justice Sharon G. Lee and the Rev. Charles W. B. Fels leading the service.

The Young Lawyers Division hosts its Wills for Heroes clinic Saturday in Gallatin to provide free wills, powers of attorney and advance directives for Tennessee’s firefighters and and law enforcement officers. Judge Joe D. Duncan will be honored on Nov. 9 by the Lincoln Memorial University's Duncan School of Law with the unveiling of a portrait that will be permanently displayed at the school. A short program planned for 5 p.m. will be followed by a reception. 

The Association of Women Attorneys will host a panel discussion on sex trafficking tomorrow at the University of Memphis School of Law's Wade Auditorium. Ryan Dalton, a legislative writer, and former U.S. attorney Steve Parker will be included in the panel discussion. The event begins at noon and lunch will be provided.
