Registration costs for the TBA Annual Convention go up on Thursday, so now is the time to sign up. This year's gathering of the Tennessee legal community will take place June 15-18 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville. Programming includes 11.5 hours of CLE, with sessions ranging from the popular Better Next Year workshops to the compelling Bench/Bar interactive program on “Law, Justice and the Holocaust.” Great entertainment is also on the agenda, highlighted by a night at the George Jones Museum in Nashville's entertainment district featuring A-list songwriters sharing their hits and the stories behind them.

The Murfreesboro office of the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands will reopen its doors next week after relocating for a year due to a fire. The office, located at 526 North Walnut St., will host a reception on June 14 from 3-5 p.m. to thank the community for its support. While insurance paid for some of the reconstruction costs, Legal Aid Society must still cover a number of expenses associated with the office’s reconstruction. Donations can be mailed to Legal Aid Society’s Nashville office at 300 Deaderick St., Nashville, TN, 37201.

Randy Spivey, attorney and Academic Director of Lipscomb's Institute for Law, Justice, and Society, will host a panel on June 11 following a performance of “To Kill a Mockingbird” at Lipscomb University's Shamblin Theatre. The panel will include appellate attorney Donald Capparella, attorney Billye Sanders and Judge Richard Dinkins.

The University of Memphis Law School will host a town hall meeting with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray on June 10 at 11 a.m. The event will include a brief opportunity for participants to provide testimony about their experiences with consumer finance issues, including high-cost mortgages, auto and small-dollar loans in the Mid South region. The Tennessee Justice Center will host its annual reception in Nashville on June 17, 5-7 p.m., at the top of the Pinnacle Building, 150 3rd Ave. S., Ste. 2800. The deadline to apply for the July 2016 bar examination is next Friday, May 20, the Board of Law Examiners (BLE) says. Payments must be received in the BLE office in Nashville by 4:30 p.m., and all documents must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on that day.

The Nashville School of Law will honor two graduates, Brenda Franks Hale and Douglas S. Hale, one of its professors, Hal Hardin, and a trailblazer in the legal community, Senior Judge Martha Craig Daughtrey, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, at its 23rd Annual Recognition Dinner.

The event, the proceeds from which provide scholarships to students attending NSL, will take place June 10 at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner following at 7 p.m.
