The University of Tennessee College of Law will join the university at large in celebrating 100 years of homecoming reunions with events on Nov. 4 and 5. Members of the classes of 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011 are invited to return to campus to reconnect with classmates and friends. On Friday, class photos will be followed by cocktails and dinner at the Knoxville Convention Center. On Saturday, a Homecoming BBQ will take place on the law school patio prior to the football game. Register for the full weekend or for the BBQ only, but do so by Nov. 1.

Williamson County CASA, with the help of the Franklin Firefighters’ Charities, has built a one-of-a-kind playhouse for its Fourth Annual Playhouse Raffle. Tickets are available for $20 by calling CASA at 615-591-2699 ext. 2, or emailing Kat@williamsoncountycasa.org. Tickets also will be on sale at the downtown Franklin Pumpkinfest this coming Saturday. Students considering law school are invited to learn about the University of Tennessee College of Law at a fall open house set for Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. EST. The event will begin in Room 136, but prospective students will tour the college, hear from law students and participate in a first-year class. Register by Oct. 28. ACLU of Tennessee is hosting a group discussion Saturday that will focus on the realities of race and policing in America and how law enforcement and community groups can work together for positive change. Broken Policing: Windows for Change will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Nashville Public Library, 615 Church St. The discussion will be led by Jeff Robinson, deputy legal director of the national ACLU and director of the ACLU Center for Justice. The event is free and open to the public.

The Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs is convening a panel of experts and government officials on Friday to discuss recent research in developmental psychology, the current youth prison model and community-based programs that prioritize age-appropriate rehabilitation. The event will be held at the department’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., but also will be available via web video. The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon Eastern time. News 5 has details.

The Lincoln Memorial University’s Abraham Lincoln Institute for the Study of Leadership and Public Policy and Duncan School of Law are co-sponsoring the R. Gerald McMurtry Lecture Series on Oct. 27 from noon to 1 p.m. at the law school’s campus in Knoxville. The event also will be simulcast to the institute, located on the main LMU campus in Harrogate. The speaker will be Dr. Daniel Farber, a law professor and co-director of the Center for Law, Energy and the Environment at the University of California, Berkeley. The 21st Judicial District Drug Court will host its sixth annual Community Breakfast next Monday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Puckett’s Restaurant on Fourth Ave. S. in Franklin. The drug court provides non-violent offenders with addiction issues an opportunity to complete an extensive two-year, court-supervised program in lieu of traditional sentencing. The Knoxville Bar Association will host its annual charity golf tournament Monday at Holston Hills Country Club. Individual and team registrations have closed but corporate sponsors are still needed. Funds raised at the tournament will be used for the various charitable endeavors of the Barristers, including programs from its Hunger & Poverty Relief Committee.
