April is Help4TNMonth, an annual public awareness campaign to highlight the need for free and reduced fee legal services in Tennessee and spotlight organizations that provide these services throughout the year. The Tennessee Supreme Court Access to Justice Initiative is sharing updates via the Help4TNMonth digital campaign and calendar of events. For 2025, the initiative is focused on providing information for the public on “the where, why and how of legal resources across Tennessee.”

The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis will commemorate the 57th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination with an event on Friday, according to the Commercial Appeal. This year’s ceremony, which will begin at 5 p.m. CDT, will feature performances, a keynote speech by Dr. Shavon Arline-Bradley, CEO and president of the National Council of Negro Women, and a wreath-laying at the Lorraine Motel balcony. This year's theme, "How Long, Not Long," is taken from King's speech on the steps of the Alabama state capital following completion of the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery march. The event is free and open to the public. Those who cannot attend in person may watch via a livestream on the museum's website at civilrightsmuseum.org or on its YouTube and Facebook platforms.

The next legal clinic for veterans in Knoxville will take place April 9 from 12-2 p.m. EST at the Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office, 1101 Liberty St., Knoxville 37919. This is a general advice clinic sponsored by the Knoxville Bar Association, KBA Barristers, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law, the University of Tennessee College of Law, the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office and the local Veterans Affairs office. Registration is now open for the next free advice clinic for Black-owned small businesses and nonprofits, set for April 17 in Nashville. The clinic, sponsored by the Arts & Business Council's Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts and Bradley, provides assistance with business formation and corporate governance, review of contracts and guidance in navigating local ordinances and state regulations. The Knoxville Bar Association’s (KBA) Spring Memorial Service will be held on May 2 at 3 p.m. EDT in the Tennessee Supreme Court courtroom, located at 505 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Knoxville 37902. The service will honor and celebrate the careers of KBA members who died in the past year. Due to the large number of losses this year, some recently passed members will be honored at a separate ceremony in November 2025.
