Lipscomb University's Fred D. Gray Institute for Law, Justice & Society will host a free legal clinic in Nashville at 6:30 p.m. on June at Schrader Lane Church of Christ, located at 1234 Schrader Lane, Nashville, 37208. Tennessee attorneys are invited to a happy hour reception highlighting Tennessee Justice Center's service to clients in Memphis and beyond, and honoring the recipients of its Pro Bono Attorney of the Year and Pro Bono Firm of the Year Awards. The TBA YLD is seeking volunteer attorneys for an expungement clinic in Nashville on Saturday at Village Church at Fifty Forward, 301 Madison Street. The clinic will have registration for the pre-registered participants at 9 - 10 a.m. and the clinic will start at 10:15. All volunteer attorneys are asked to arrive at 9:30 - 10 a.m. for orientation and the run of the day. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Amber Floyd.

For the third year running, the Delaware Bar Foundation will hold the Stargatt Legal Ethics Writing Competition. There are no Delaware residency requirements, so it is open to any ABA-accredited law school student or recent graduate. The topic must be ethics-related and the deadline is Sept. 15. The top submission will garner $3,000 for the author, with cash prizes available to second and third place as well. Find out more here.

On June 14, the Community Legal Center (CLC) in Memphis will host a night at the theater in support of the organization with a performance of "Dreamgirls" at the Playhouse on the Square, presented by Gene and Carol Katz. Join the CLC for delicious food and beverages, an entertaining show and many ways to give to the Community Legal Center. Tickets are available for $45, or $100 for a VIP pass. A cocktail reception will begin at 6 p.m. with showtime at 8 p.m.

Napa Cafe will host the Mary L. Wolff Dine for Justice Dinner on Monday to support the work of Memphis Area Legal Services (MALS). Dine for Justice is named for Mary Wolff, who led MALS’s Board of Directors during its 45th anniversary year. The event will feature a four-course meal with wine pairings, and a wine pull. Monday’s dinner will be the third Dine for Justice, which was first held in 2015. Last year’s event raised over $13,000.

The TBA’s Public Education Committee is seeking volunteers for the 2018 Lipscomb Law Camp, which will be held on the Lipscomb University campus June 11-15. Each year, Lipscomb University’s Institute for Law, Justice and Society hosts a class of high school students from across the country and educates them in matters of law and government. This year’s theme is “Power and Empowerment in Your Community,” which will examine federalism and shared powers, separation of powers, checks and balances, and ideals and realities of political power. Volunteer attorneys are needed to lead sessions on June 11-14. Materials and suggested lesson plans will be provided. The Nashville Bar Association's YLD, in partnership with the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville, is hosting the Arts Immersion summer party on May 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fort Houston. The evening will feature live performances, a silent auction, drinks and more. Tickets are available here, with proceeds going to support the Arts & Business Council’s Volunteer Lawyers and Professionals for the Arts program, which has provided over $3.5 million in free legal services to the Nashville arts and entertainment community.

The Nashville School of Law will be hosting its 25th annual Recognition Dinner on June 8, beginning with a reception at 5:30 p.m. This year, NSL will be honoring two individuals for their contributions to the school: Charles R. Niewold, class of 1984, and David L. Hudson Jr., a longtime faculty member. “The contributions these two gentlemen have made to Nashville School of Law through their combined decades of service to the school and the legal community are remarkable,” Dean William C. Koch Jr. said. The event will be held at the Renaissance Hotel. Tickets are available at the NSL website.
