The Association for Legal Professionals, Nashville Chapter (NALS) will host its 6th Annual NALS After Hours Silent Auction on Aug. 16. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis LLP. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Tennessee Justice Center. The TBA Young Lawyers Division is seeking volunteers for an expungement clinic Aug. 18 in Nashville. The clinic will be held at New Covenant Christian Church, 2201 Osage Street. Sign-in for the pre-registered participants begins at 9 a.m. and the clinic will start at 10:15 a.m., running until noon. All volunteer attorneys are asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m. for orientation and the run of the day. The Criminal Court Clerk’s office will have computers and the ability to process the expungement paperwork right on the spot. Those available to help should contact Amber Floyd.

The TBA YLD is recruiting volunteers for an expungement clinic in Montgomery County on Aug. 18. The clinic will be held at 9 a.m. at 1620 Walnut Grove Road in Clarksville. Those who are available to help or have any questions should contact Heather Good or Jamie Durrett.

The upcoming Tennessee Elder Justice Conference will focus on a multi-disciplinary approaches to combating elder abuse. The event will be held Sept 18-19 in Gatlinburg and is hosted by the East Tennessee Elder Justice Coalition, a project of the East Tennessee Human Resources Agency and the East Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability.

The Knoxville Bar Association will host its annual Supreme Court Dinner on Sept. 5 at the Crowne Plaza Knoxville. The dinner pays tribute to Tennessee's Supreme Court justices and members of the local judiciary. A cash bar reception will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner starting at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the KBA website.

Volunteers are needed for another Music City Community Courts Expungement Clinic to be held July 21 in Nashville. The clinic will take place at the Goodwill Career Solutions Center, 937 Herman St., with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and the clinic running from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All volunteer attorneys are asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m. for orientation. Ninety-one participants have pre-registered for this clinic, so more attorney volunteers are needed for any amount of time. The Criminal Court Clerk’s office will have computers and the ability to process the expungement paperwork right on the spot. The Community Legal Center in Memphis will host “Cocktails for a Cause” on Aug. 3, for which all proceeds will go towards benefiting the CLC. The event will take place at 1509 Peabody Ave. from 5 to 7 p.m. Organizers promise “no speeches, no agenda” for the evening, just a fundraiser for a good cause.
