Legal Aid Society is hosting its monthly Saturday clinic in collaboration with Metro Nashville Public Schools tomorrow. Volunteers from all practice areas of the law are also welcome to attend. Ample support will be provided to new volunteers. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at 615 Fessey Park Road, Nashville, TN 37204. The task force studying a redistricting of Tennessee’s 31 judicial districts has announced two additional public hearings, May 20 in Harriman and June 12 in Murfreesboro. The Advisory Task Force on Composition of Judicial Districts is holding these hearings across the state to receive comments from policymakers, attorneys or members of the public with their thoughts and concerns on the compilation of Tennessee’s judicial districts. The Harriman hearing will be 1 p.m. at Roane State Community College’s Raider Room, 276 Patton Lane. The June 12 hearing will be at the Rutherford County Judicial Complex, 116 West Lytle Street in Murfreesboro. Hearings have already been held in Nashville and Jackson.

Nashville Public Television tomorrow will host a free screening and discussion of NPT’s Aging Matters: Legal Help documentary. The event takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Belmont University College of Law’s Randall and Sadie Baskin Center and is co-sponsored by the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability and Belmont University College of Law. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion withTennessee Supreme Court Justice Cornelia Clark, Ashley Holliday of West Tennessee Legal Services and Tim Takacs of Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law. The event is free, but RSVPs are required to attend.

The Knoxville Bar Association will host its annual memorial service to honor the attorneys who died during the previous year. The service will take place at the Tennessee Supreme Court Courtroom on May 17 at 3 p.m. Joining KBA President Wynne Caffey-Knight in the reflection and celebration of the lives of these individuals will be Rev. Charles Fels and Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Sharon Lee.

More than a thousand stakeholders involved in efforts to expand access to justice nationally for underserved U.S. residents will explore strategies and issues for improving delivery of legal services at a May 8-11 conference in Louisville, Kentucky. The event is sponsored by the National Legal Aid & Defender Association and the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service. Past TBA President Buck Lewis serves as Chair of this ABA Committee. Tennessee will send a delegation of 30 attendees. Kentucky Chief Justice John Minton and Kentucky Associate Justice Michelle Keller will deliver keynote remarks.
