Legal Services Corporation will release its Opioid Task Force Report on June 27 at the Tennessee Supreme Court. The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., with light refreshments afterwards. The convening in Nashville marks the third in a series of events to highlight the report, which summarizes more than a year of work investigating the intersection of civil legal aid and coordinated responses to the opioid epidemic. Speakers include Chief Justice Jeff Bivins, West Tennessee Legal Services Executive Director Cathy Clayton, Tennessee Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey, Tennessee Courts Director Deborah Taylor Tate, and Tennessee Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Commissioner Marie Williams.

A dedication ceremony to rename the Memphis Crosstown Post Office building in honor of Judge Russell B. Sugarmon will be held Friday at 10 a.m., the Daily Memphian reports. Congressman Steve Cohen and the United States Postal Service will host the dedication ceremony, and Cohen, postal officials, and members of the Sugarmon family will participate in the event, which will culminate with the unveiling of the dedication plaque. Sugarmon, a native Memphian, was known as a lawyer, judge, statesman, and active civic and community leader. He passed away Feb. 18.

The American Inns of Court is offering two National Advocacy Training Programs in Washington, D.C. The two-day programs are built around the group's close ties with the four English Inns of Court: Gray's Inn, Inner Temple, Lincoln's Inn and Middle Temple. Faculty come from the Inns of Court College of Advocacy, which is comprised of leading barristers and judges from the Bar of England and Wales who teach and train excellence in oral advocacy. Participants can choose Session A, Sept. 16-17, or Session B, Sept. 19-20.

Each year at the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services' Equal Justice University Conference, one of the highlights is the presentation of three awards to celebrate outstanding work in the access to justice community.
