The Knoxville Bar Association (KBA) will hold its Annual Memorial Service on Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. EST in the Tennessee Supreme Court Courtroom, 505 Main St., Knoxville 37902. KBA President Wynne Caffey-Knight, Tennessee Court of Appeals Judge Charles D. Susano Jr. and Rev. Charles Fels will lead the services honoring seven attorneys lost in 2019. Those to be honored include Fred Bright Jr., Charles A. Maner Jr., John A. McReynolds Jr., William “Bill” Pierce Newkirk, Hon. James B. “Buddy” Scott, Pamela G. Steele and Robert M. Stivers Jr.

A portrait of retired Davidson County Criminal Court Judge Randall Wyatt will be unveiled Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the Justice A. A. Birch Building, 408 2nd Ave. N., Nashville 37201. A reception will follow the ceremony. Wyatt retired in 2017 after 43 years on the bench.

The Knoxville Bar Association’s Annual Chili Cook-off Luncheon & Basket Auction will be held Nov. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit the Foster Care Volunteer Advisory Board. The board uses the funds to hold an annual dinner for foster care parents and meet the emergency needs of foster care children throughout the year. The event will take place at the Knox County Juvenile Court, 3323 Division St., Knoxville 37919. Silent auction items are needed as are teams to participate in the chili cook-off. Legal Aid of East Tennessee will celebrate pro bono volunteers at its annual “Forging Justice” event this Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ironwood Studios. The event will feature live music, food and drink, and a silent auction. The agency also will recognize key volunteers. Tickets are available online.

The Lawyers’ Association for Women (LAW) will honor new attorneys with a breakfast before they are sworn in on Nov. 7. The breakfast is free for new admittees and will feature a keynote address from Chancellor Anne Martin of the Nashville Davidson County Chancery Court, Part II. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville. Reservations must be made by Nov. 1.

The Metro Government of Nashville and Davidson County Historical Commission has approved a marker to celebrate the founding of the Nashville School of Law in 1911. The marker will be unveiled tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the corner of Church Street and YMCA Way in downtown Nashville -- the site of the original law school. All students, faculty, alumni, Board of Trust members and the public are invited to join in the celebration.

The Memphis Chapter of the Federalist Society presents a “U.S. Supreme Court Roundup” on Thursday with Ilya Shapiro, director of the Robert A. Levy Center for Constitutional Studies at the Cato Institute, and University of Memphis law school professor Steven Mulroy. The pair will discuss cases from the past year during the noon program in Wade Auditorium at Memphis Law.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee is inviting the legal community to attend the investiture of Clifton L. Corker as a new district judge. The ceremony will take place Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the James H. Quillen U.S. Courthouse at 220 West Depot St. in Greeneville. A reception will follow the ceremony. RSVP here. President Trump announced Corker’s nomination last fall. The U.S. Senate approved his nomination in July. Corker previously served as a U.S. magistrate judge for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
