In Nashville, Legal Aid of Middle Tennessee & the Cumberlands will hold its McHugh Legal Help Clinic at the Belmont Ministry Center, 2005 12th Ave. S. The Association for Women Attorneys (AWA) will hold its 40th Annual Banquet on Jan. 23 at 409 S. Main, an event venue in Memphis' South Main Arts District. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a program. During the banquet, Megan Lane with Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh will take office as the group’s 2020 president, and Diane Vescovo, chief U.S. magistrate judge for the Western District of Tennessee, will receive the Marion Griffin-Frances Loring Award. New Memphis Bar Association President Lucie K. Brackin with The Landers Firm also will be recognized.

The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee & the Cumberlands will hold its monthly legal help clinic at the Gallatin Civic Center tomorrow from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The center is located at 210 Albert Gallatin Ave., Gallatin 37066. The clinic is staffed by the Sumner County Bar Association but residents from all middle Tennessee counties are welcome.

Memphis Area Legal Services will hold a Veterans Clinic on Dec. 10 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Memphis Vet Center, 1407 Union Ave. Ste 410, Memphis 38104. This clinic is specifically for veterans with questions about their rights and benefits, including basic eligibility for benefits, discharge status upgrades/appeals, disability compensation, pensions, dependency and indemnity compensation, representation before the Veterans Affairs Department and appealing a denial of benefits.

West Tennessee Legal Service will host a Military Monday legal clinic on Dec. 9 at the Starbucks located at 2034 N. Highland Ave. in Jackson from 9 to 11 a.m. The clinic provides general civil legal advice for U.S. veterans, military members and their families. For more information, call 800-372-8346.

Memphis Area Legal Services will hold its Attorney of the Day Clinic on Thursday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Volunteer attorneys will be in Room 134 of the Judge D’Army Bailey Shelby County Courthouse, 140 Adams Ave., to meet with pro se litigants and provide advice, counsel and referrals. Clients are seen on a first-come first-serve basis.

The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands will hold a phone-a-thon tomorrow for “GivingTuesday” — a global day of giving to nonprofits and charitable causes.
