The Immigration Law Section is set to host Immigration Law Updates on Nov. 9. The program will cover asylum updates, criminal convictions, petitions for review after Guerrero Lasprilla and Niz-Chavez and jurisdiction issues. It will provide three hours general and one hour dual CLE credit.

Make plans now to attend the TBA’s annual Health Law Primer and Forum being offered virtually this year. The Primer, which will run from noon to 4:30 p.m. CDT on Oct. 20, will provide an introduction to health law practice, including an overview of Tennessee law, fraud and abuse fundamentals, licensing and contracting. Then on Oct. 21-22, the annual Health Law Forum will provide a deeper dive into transactions, fraud and abuse, physician discipline, claims coding, HIPAA, recent state court cases, and lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic. That program provides 15 hours of CLE credit.

The program will include a legislative update and sessions on courtroom "dos" and "don'ts," the importance of marital balance sheets, surrogacy education and well-being for family law practitioners. Join "the CLE Performer" Stuart Teicher as he explores the misdeeds of the real and fake lawyers of Hollywood. This Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. CDT, “CLE Performer” Stuart Teicher will provide a one-hour webcast “What My Facebook Posts Teach About Lawyer Mental Health” for Tennessee lawyers. Teicher travels the road as a full time CLE speaker and often encounters “interesting” and “not-so-courteous” people. He documents these encounters on his Facebook feed, providing levity but also important ethics lessons. His presentation this week will focus on Tennessee Rules of Professional Responsibility 1.3, requiring diligence in the practice of law; 1.16, regarding withdrawal from representation; and 2.1, on rendering candid advice. The course offers one hour of dual credit.

The TBA's Corporate Counsel Section continues its 2021 webcast series with a session on Oct. 27 from noon to 1 p.m. CDT. Section members will discuss how they landed in their current positions as well as the legal issues and conflicts common to this practice area. Speakers include Nashville area lawyers Katie Atkins with naviHealth, Robert Dennis with Tennessee Fitness, Justin Hayden with Pinnacle Financial Partners, Melissa Leigh with Kepro and Jason Little with The Carlstar Group LLC. This year's annual Creditors Practice Forum will be offered as a live virtual program on Oct. 6 from 12:30 to 3:45 p.m. CDT. The program will feature Patty Whitehead of Rubin Lublin, who will address the enforcement of judgment liens on real property; John Bedard of Bedard Law Group, who will discuss the Hunstein case; and Lewis Borsellino of DefendEdge, who will discuss cybersecurity issues. The forum will offer two general and one dual CLE credits.
