The TBA Business Law Section will host its annual Business Law Forum on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. CST both in person and virtually online. The in-person event will take place at Operation Stand Down, 1125 12th Ave. S., Nashville 37203. A networking reception will follow the program from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. CST. This year’s forum will focus on hot topics for both the experienced and inexperienced business lawyer. The program is being produced by Justin Joy with Lewis Thomason in Memphis.

The 2022 Intellectual Property CLE Blast is an all-day event that allows attendees to create their own schedule and earn as many, or as few, CLE hours as they need. Calling all super sleuths! Join the TBA for a CLE like you have never experienced before. Kicking off April 1, CL(U)E Knoxville will offer a unique adventure in which you and your team will be tasked with solving a murder mystery, all while learning recent changes to Tennessee criminal law and earning three hours of CLE credit. The interactive experience will take you to some of downtown Knoxville’s most interesting landmarks, where you will solve puzzles, earn clues and engage is a multitude of interactive scenarios that will teach the law and help you solve the murder. Prizes will be awarded to the first three winning teams along with a lifetime of bragging rights. Another CL(U)E event will take place using the same template in Nashville on May 20. The TBA's General, Solo & Small Firm Section will host a one-hour ethics webcast, Forms, Gigs, Outsourcing - Things You Need to Know, on March 30 at 11 a.m. CST. Join attorneys Sean Martin with Martin Heller Potempa & Sheppard and Belmont University College of Law professor Tim Chinaris as they discuss ethical concerns to look out for in the post-COVID workflow landscape. During the pandemic, some lawyers turned to using form services or even outsourcing their work, particularly in areas where they had not previously practiced. Others engaged in gig work for multiple firms and employers at once. The pandemic highlighted the creativity of the marketplace for lawyers and legal services, but the pitfalls were not always obvious. Learn how to avoid such issues with this program.

The second week of the Law Tech 2022 series continues on Thursday with two sessions and two chances to win tech prizes. Tech Tools for Attorney Well-Being will begin at 10 a.m. CST and include a discussion on what well-being means for attorneys, how technology can (and can't) assist in improving well-being and application options. The TBA's Disability Law Section will host a one-hour webcast, Disability Law: Past Relevant Work Issues, on March 24 at 2:30 p.m. CST. Moderated by section executive council member Chris George of George & George, the program will focus on classifying past relevant work properly for both DDS and Vocational Experts. Often proper job classification is the dispositive issue in a case if the claimant is above age 50, so getting accurate descriptions of past relevant work is essential. Since this is a roundtable style program, attendees are encouraged to ask questions throughout the hour. Register before 1:30 p.m. CST on March 24 to receive the Zoom email invitation.
