The TBA’s 2022 Court Square Series kicks off Sept. 7 in Greeneville with a three-hour program at the U.S. District Courthouse. The series is designed to provide networking opportunities, developments and updates in multiple areas of the law and much more. In Greeneville, join TBA President Tasha Blakney for a lunch and learn networking session at 11:30 a.m. EDT followed by other substantive law conversations. The day will wrap up at 3:15 p.m. The series will continue with programs in Covington on Sept. 21, Hendersonville/Gallatin on Oct. 12 (new date!), Jamestown on Oct. 26, Clarksville on Nov. 2 and Savannah on Nov. 16. One consistent change over the past several years is that lawyers’ ethical duties are getting broader. Who would have thought that something like auto-correct might lead to an ethics violation? The “CLE Performer” Stuart Teicher is back with a virtual session on ethical duties. Among other topics, Teicher will address issues with technology and competence and the emerging duty to look into the potential misdeeds of employers and/or clients. The three-hour program will air Aug. 23 from noon to 3 p.m. CDT.

The TBA's Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity presents a one-hour webcast on how solo practitioners or attorneys in small firms can expand their practice by accepting conservatorship work. Amy Bryant with the state trial court and Travenia Holden with the Holden Law Office in Lebanon will host an interview style discussion, which will include an overview of best practices for handling conservatorships. The webcast will take place Aug. 5 from noon to 1 p.m. CDT.

Make plans now to attend the 22nd Annual Health Law Primer, our annual program designed specifically for new health law practioners and those who want to learn more about the practice area. The program will take place Oct. 19 from noon to 4:15 p.m. CDT at the Nashville office of Bass Berry Sims. Sessions will include a general health law overview and practical tips to identify and avoid pitfalls in this heavily regulated industry. The TBA’s Health Law Forum will follow on Oct. 20 and 21. Fulfill all your annual CLE requirements with this program, which will provide attendees with tips and updates in a wide range of practice areas. The program will offer a combination of 15 hours of live credit and prepaid credits to complete online anytime — at home or on your mobile device — allowing you to customize your learning to your schedule. The Knoxville program will run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. EDT at the University of Tennessee Conference Center. The series also will hold sessions in Memphis on Aug. 26 and Nashville on Sept. 16.
