The TBA will host its 30th Annual Labor & Employment Law Forum on May 1 in Nashville, featuring a full-day program focused on key workplace and regulatory issues facing employers and practitioners. The forum, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT at the Tennessee Bankers Association, will include sessions on return-to-the-workplace challenges, Federal Trade Commission noncompetes and trade secrets, wage and hour issues, and ethics topics addressing sexual harassment and assault. Attendees may earn up to five general and one dual CLE hours. The TBA will host its 21st Annual Bankruptcy Law Forum April 24 and 25 in Gatlinburg, offering a two-day educational retreat focused on developments in bankruptcy law. The program will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn and will feature presentations from bankruptcy judges and practitioners from across Tennessee and the Southeast, including judges from the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts in the Eastern, Middle and Western districts of Tennessee, as well as the Northern District of Georgia. The forum includes a full day of programming on April 24, followed by a networking reception and dinner, with additional sessions concluding late morning April 25. The TBA YLD, in collaboration with the TBA General, Solo and Small Firm Section, will present “The Rookie Series: Opening Your Own Firm” on Jan. 29 at noon CST as a live webcast. The one-hour program is designed for aspiring solo practitioners and entrepreneurial attorneys considering launching a solo or small firm and will cover key steps for opening a practice, common pitfalls to avoid and resources available through the TBA. The program, tailored to both new and experienced practitioners, will feature a morning session focused on introductory sessions that build foundational knowledge and an afternoon sessions delving into more advanced issues. The 21st Annual TBA Bankruptcy Law Forum will return to Gatlinburg April 24-25. This unique weekend retreat is structured so that attendees have the opportunity to learn the latest in bankruptcy law and have free time to explore the Great Smoky Mountains. Sessions from the 2025 Animal Law Forum are now available on demand. The sessions explore conservation funding and green business practices at the Nashville Zoo, legal challenges tied to development in sensitive habitats, key issues in equine law and ethical considerations in animal law cases. The forum also included a session on the practical realities of practicing animal law in Tennessee with a focus on dangerous dogs, veterinary malpractice and custody disputes. Additional programming examines the use of K-9s and equine in law enforcement and search-and-rescue operations, with a focus on training, regulation and legal concerns.
