Join the TBA International Law & Practice Section for part one of its annual forum to be held virtually on March 17. The program will begin at 9 a.m. CDT and offer attendees two hours of general CLE credit. The first session will focus on foreign direct investment with Adam Breeze, director of business development (United Kingdom and Ireland) for the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development. The second session will cover cybersecurity issues with Knoxville lawyer Jody Prestia and Nashville lawyer Thomas Ritter with Maynard Cooper & Gale. Part two of the forum is being planned for June. This year's Business Law Forum will be a hybrid program, so we hope you will join us either virtually or in person at Bass Berry & Sim's Nashville offices on April 21. In-person registration is at 9 a.m. CDT and the program will begin for both in person and virtual attendees at 9:30 a.m. A networking reception for in-person attendees will follow the forum at 4 p.m. The focus of the program will be business transactions in the news and how they apply to those practicing law in Tennessee. The TBA Health Law Section Executive Council has begun planning the 35th Annual TBA Health Law Forum, which will take place Nov. 2-3 at the Music City Center in Nashville. Topics for this year's forum include annual favorites such as fraud and abuse, fraud enforcement, legislative updates and ethics. This year's forum will also explore several timely topics involving reimbursement, the No Surprises Act, cyber security, malpractice, antitrust concerns and more. The introductory Health Law Primer will precede the forum on Nov. 1. Stay tuned for more info, including speakers and how to register for this premier event.

The TBA’s Dispute Resolution Section will hold its annual forum on May 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT at the downtown Nashville office of Butler Snow. Luther Wright of Olgetree Deakins will present "Making 'Difficult Communications' Less Difficult: Best Practices and Strategies for Success" at noon on Feb. 28. This presentation examines the five barriers to healthy communications and provides strategies for addressing each and identifies the most common communication mistakes employers make. Save the date for the TBA Federal Practice Section's Annual Forum set for May 9. This year’s program will focus on protesting in America. Over the course of three sessions, attendees will receive a refresher on the law of protests and learn more about human rights issues related to police use of force and the media’s impact on protest and litigation. Panelists also will cover police management of protests, criminal prosecutions and civil litigation under Section 1983. The forum will end with an ethics session examining the intersection of advocacy, civility and professional responsibility. Register here.
