Hosted by the TBA Family Law Section, the Intersections of Family Law CLE will examine how domestic law intersects with other legal segments, providing a more holistic view to incorporate into practice. Sessions will cover litigation regarding closely held businesses in divorces and criminal law considerations for domestic lawyers. A networking reception will follow the program. Join the Corporate Counsel Section on April 14 for its virtual annual forum, full of the essential content for in-house attorneys. Mark Phillis with Littler Mendelson will speak about digital accessibility. Eric Stevens with Littler Mendelson will address workplace violence and Dr. Hemant Sharma will join a session on recent Supreme Court cases impacting administrative law. The forum also will provide a session on pregnancy in the workplace with Charles Thompson of Ogletree Deakins.

The TBA’s Litigation Section will host its annual forum on May 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CDT as a live virtual event. This year’s forum will offer essential and useful material for litigators. It is being produced by Litigation Section Section Chair Tannera Gibson with Burch, Porter & Johnson. Confirmed speakers include Will Perry with Butler Snow and Stephen Shields with Jackson, Shields, Yeiser, Holt, Owen & Bryant. All three practice in Memphis. Topics include court-mandated ADR, economic loss doctrine and ethical implications of artificial intelligence in the legal landscape.

The TBA is bringing its award-winning CLE programming to Savannah on April 26. The Court Square program is designed to provide attorneys with the latest developments in multiple areas of the law. A new course from the TBA seeks to expand the group of legal advocates certified to serve Tennessee veterans, who are underrepresented in the Veterans Affairs Department’s (VA) claims and appeals processes. Introduction to the Practice of Veterans Law — a live virtual event on April 5 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT — will cover information about claims procedures, basic benefits eligibility, right to appeal, disability compensation, dependency and indemnity compensation, and pensions. Presenters will be James R. Drysdale with the VA Office of General Counsel in Washington, D.C., and VA certified lawyers Seth Ogden and Rita Gibson Rayford.

This year's Immigration Law Forum will cover timely topics affecting immigration attorneys. Sessions will include the discussion of the Southeastern Provision plant raid, family law immigration updates and the intersection of criminal and immigration law. The TBA is getting ready to hit the road again for the spring/summer season of its Court Square Series. The first stop will be in Jamestown on April 12. The three-hour program is designed to provide attorneys with the latest developments in multiple areas of the law. This year's Dispute Resolution Forum makes its return in person, also offering a Zoom simulcast. Join colleagues for carefully crafted sessions tailored to both lawyers and mediators featuring accomplished speakers from the ADR vocation. Topics include crafting a settlement, the art of negotiation, a discussion of litigation and/vs. arbitration in court, handling pro-bono cases, and more. Make plans now to attend the TBA's 2023 Entertainment & Sports Law Forum on May 11 in Nashville. The four-hour program, including one dual hour, will be held at Belmont University College of Law. Topics to be covered include the latest in sports law, a comprehensive case law update, and a look into what is going on with beats, licensing and sampling. The program will conclude with an attorney well-being session. Immediately following the program, attendees are encouraged to attend the happy hour reception at International Market from 5-7pm CDT.

Join the TBA YLD's Civil Rights Walking Tour on April 14 in downtown Nashville. Learn about the impact that legal history has had in making the city of Nashville a more inclusive place to thrive. This CLE will offer a uniquely interactive historical perspective regarding the role Nashville played in the civil rights movement, women’s right to vote, enactment of disability laws and changes to access for public education. It will end with a panel discussion on the future of civil rights litigation and how attorneys can incorporate it into their practice.
