The Administrative Law Forum on Nov. 20 at the Tennessee Bar Center will address recent developments in Tennessee's "Sunshine Law" to include recent cases, public access, violations, and the laws requirements regarding meeting electronically. The ethics portion of the program will cover best practices when communicating with clients, counsel and boards. The course is scheduled from 1 - 4:15 p.m. and is worth three credits of CLE.

Learn about significant amendments to the Federal Civil Rules at this course planned for Dec. 2, 12:30-3:45 p.m. at the Tennessee Bar Center. These changes, set to take effect on Dec. 1, affect discoverable information in Rule 26, sanctions for Discover abuses, handling of ESI, and other issues in civil litigation. The course is worth three hours of CLE credit.

This program will discuss Tennessee's new For-Profit Benefit Corporation Act that goes into effect January 1, 2016. You can take part in person or through webcast.

A panel of TBA members who drafted the legislation will talk about the Act and offer advice about the use of the Act in organizing Tennessee social enterprise businesses. The discussion will:

• Address how the Act came to be enacted (including, in the process, common questions about the Act and benefit corporation legislation generally)
• Clarify director duties and other governance matters under the Act
• Make observations about the possible advantages in organizing a social enterprise business as a Tennessee for-profit benefit corporation
• Offer advice about drafting organizational documents under the Act

New cases are being added daily to the new learning game from the Tennessee Bar Association. The Supreme Court Fantasy Challenge game helps you build your legal knowledge while competing with fellow lawyers and earning CLE credits. In each game, you will analyze lower court rulings, read attorney briefs, listen to oral arguments and then vote on how you think the court — or each individual justice — will rule. When the court rules on the case, you will be awarded points based on your votes and earn rankings in four categories.

Former TBA President Buck Lewis and former University of Tennessee College of Law Dean Doug Blaze are teaming up for the 2015 TBA Leadership Academy, a program designed to help Tennessee lawyers develop the leadership skills needed to overcome challenges and build strong character. The program will be held Nov. 16 at the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville.
