TBA CLE is offering a pair of webcasts next week. Coming up on Wednesday is a tech-related program presented by Ben Vincent of the Vertical Group on Windows 10 and what is different about it for law firms. Following that on Thursday is a webinar on work-life balance from Mary Griffin of the Tennessee Department of Treasury. Both hour-long programs get underway at noon CDT.

The deadline for mailing Affidavits of Completion and paying all fees to the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education is May 31 in order to avoid the $200 late fee for 2015 compliance. The TBA is offering two live CLE events this week and a broad selection of online courses to help those in need of CLE hours.

Still need hours for 2015 or want to get ahead of the game for 2016? Come and go as you need during the Spring CLE Blast on May 24. Registration is open all day starting at 7 a.m. for a total of 11 dual hours.

Learn how to avoid ethics problems and malpractice issues at this years Preventing Legal Malpractice CLE. The May 26 program in Nashville will review sample fee agreements and ethical issues.

The TBA will host seven live CLE programs in the coming weeks in Knoxville and Nashville. Course topics include animal law, real estate and criminal law. Search the full course catalog.

Earn six CLE credits while learning about the business and legal impacts of the developing alcohol industry in Tennessee. The Legal Pitfalls of Operating a Vineyard, Distillery and Brewery in the 21st Century will be held June 2, 8:30 a.m. – 4:45 p.m., at the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville. Lunch will be provided. 

Debra Lawrence of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will speak on the Equal Pay Act at the 20th Annual Labor & Employment Forum on May 6 at the Bar Center in Nashville. Other topics include federal and Tennessee Law updates, hot topics in wage and hour law, and perspectives from the bench. The forum, approved for six CLE credits, is from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Register by May 1.

The 13th annual TBA Bankruptcy Forum is planned for April 29 – May 1 at the Buckberry Lodge in Gatlinburg. Speakers include four U.S. Bankruptcy judges and advanced practitioners, who will provide an in-depth look at bankruptcy case developments in the Sixth Circuit and around the country. Ten hours of CLE credit are available, including three hours of ethics.

Nuremberg: International Justice and Three Tennessee Lawyers, planned for April 18 at the Tennessee Bar Center, explores the history of all the Nuremberg trials in Germany from 1945-1948. The CLE, approved for 3.25 credits, will highlight the involvement of three Tennessee lawyers and features a screening of the acclaimed 1948 documentary, "Nuremberg: Its Lesson for Today.” The course is scheduled from 1-4:30 p.m. and lunch is included. 

The TBA’s annual Entertainment & Sports Forum is planned for May 19, 12:30 – 4:45 p.m., at Belmont University College of Law, Baskin Center, 1900 Belmont Blvd. in Nashville. This year’s forum, titled “Nashville: The Intersection of Television, Fashion and Music,” is approved for four CLE credits. Topics include an inside perspective on the intellectual property issues for the TV show "Nashville,” and a discussion of the ethical challenges when using social media and online platforms to market your practice. Register by May 15 to avoid a late fee.
