This Friday the annual Hot Topics in Real Estate CLE – produced by the TBA and the Tennessee Land Title Association – will be held at the AT&T Building in downtown Nashville. The program will offer insight into commercial lending, a summary of the first year of the TILA-RESPA Integrate Disclosure Rule and an annual legislative report. Other sessions will cover advanced title issues, 1031 tax free exchanges and the recent February ALTA survey changes.

Starting next week, a series of webcasts produced by the TBA’s Dispute Resolution Section and Special Committee on Evolving Legal Markets will offer CLE and CME credit. On Nov. 2, the series will kick off with a focus on creating and managing productive relationships in mediation. On Nov. 17, the series will look at the impact of online dispute resolution tools on the practice of law. Then on Nov. 29, the series will wrap up with a session on mediation in juvenile court. Sessions from the TBA’s recent federal law forum are now available online. A session on expert disclosures features Memphis lawyer Frank Day of Ford Harrison and focuses on using the rule to gain an advantage in litigation, while a second session with arbitrator and mediator Mark Travis focuses on practice tips for those interested in alternative dispute resolution.

Did you miss the Oct. 6 TBA CLE webcast with James Mackler talking about new drone laws set by the FAA? Good news! The video is available for one year on the TBA website. The session covers the use of drones in business, government and by hobbyists, as well as the unique regulatory environment related to each. The course also looks at state laws, privacy and trespass issues, liability and insurance issues and current litigation.

One of the nation's largest health law programs kicks off next week in Franklin with more than 400 attorneys expected. The Health Law Primer, intended as an introductory program, will provide a general health law overview and discussion of hot topics by experienced healthcare leaders on Wednesday. The 28th Annual Health Law Forum follows on Thursday and Friday. Speakers will cover a wide range of topics including fraud and abuse, practitioner assistance programs, ethics, medical staffing issues and 2016 Tennessee health law and legislative updates. All events will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

A CLE on transactional practice will be held Oct. 14 at the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville. The Tennessee Bar Association is presenting a new series of webcast programs this fall for new lawyers. Nashville lawyer Matt Potempa opens the series with Skills for New Lawyers: Conflicts and Confidentiality at noon on Nov. 1, with a Dec. 1 re-broadcast date. Judge Lynda Jones will present Skills for New Lawyers: Beginning and Ending the Client Relationship at noon on Nov. 7, with a Dec. 5 re-broadcast date. The final program -- Skills for New Lawyers: Keeping Time, Setting Rates and Billing -- will be from Murfreesboro lawyer Thomas Santel Jr. on Nov. 21, with a Dec. 19 re-broadcast date.
