This year's Animal Law Forum will be hosted in Murfreesboro at the MTSU Horse Science Center on May 12. Sessions will focus on animal abuse resources as well as municipal ordinance enforcement. A special extended panel will address nonprofit management for both animal law specialists and general practitioners. New legislation and case law will be highlighted, as well as technology’s influence on the modern law practice. Register for the TBA's CLE examining the intersection of real estate and divorce law before it's too late! The program, which will be held at the Bar Center on May 8, will offer a panel presentation covering real estate practices in complaints and family law. Speakers will address financial problems that can occur post-divorce relating to credit problems, foreclosures and bankruptcy. Sessions will also address types of deeds and how they are handled in divorce cases.

Registration ends soon for the 2017 Business Forum. This year's forum focuses on indemnification. On April 28, the program will address the constituents, structures, functions, and contents of indemnification provisions that are commonly negotiated in a variety of business transactions – two tracks provide targeted learning. This year's Disability Law Forum will provide a full day of essential and useful material applicable to disability law. Laura Chastain, ethics counsel with the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility, will present an update on ethics. Further sessions will include updates on 6th Circuit Social Security Case Law and will address the new mental health regulations effective in January 2017. The TBA’s 21st annual Labor and Employment Forum will be held May 8 at the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville. Sessions will cover the latest federal and state developments, with separate emphasis on the expansion of labor laws in non-union settings, emerging gender-related issues, and the continued explosion of wage and hour litigation. The 2nd annual Communication Law Forum will be held at the Bar Center on May 4. This year's program will focus on media law and other communication issues. Topics will address open courts, protective orders in civil cases, document leaks and writing and publicity. Speakers will also cover legislative updates, reviewing broadband legislation and pending issues before the court challenging the One Touch/Make Ready ordinance passed in Nashville last fall. A CLE on criminal law will be held at the Bar Center in Nashville on May 3. Attendees will learn about the latest in Tennessee DUI law and best practices for handling criminal cases. Sessions will touch on the technical and legal aspects of criminal defense and provide tips on how to best advise clients. Additional topics will cover client communication, general guidelines for handling criminal cases and field sobriety testing.

A CLE addressing basic and intermediate deposition techniques will be held at the University of Memphis on April 13. Attendees will hear from experienced litigators who will discuss key components of the deposition process. An additional portion of the program will be devoted to ethical considerations in deposition settings, dealing with difficult counsel and witness preparation. Find out more and register here.

The fourth and final CLE in the “Modern Law Practice Series” will explore emerging trends in the delivery of legal services and how focusing on consumer behavior could benefit your law firm. This session will examine the ways in which consumer-facing companies like Avvo and LegalZoom have capitalized on tailoring services to the needs of the modern legal client and how you can adjust your practice to meet those same demands. The three-hour program will be held April 13, and will be available in person and on-demand.
