The Tennessee Public Records Act, originally one of the broadest in the country, now has hundreds of exceptions. Attorney Robb Harvey addresses the substantive and procedural aspects of this act in an online CLE available at the TBA website.

May 31 is the deadline for establishing CLE compliance by mailing the Affidavit of Completion (hours earned, fees paid and Affidavit of Compliance filed). The TBA's annual Elder Law Forum will be held July 14 at the AT&T Building in downtown Nashville. Sessions will cover ABLE, Special Needs Trusts, Medicare bundled billing, estate planning, wills and corresponding tax implications. Legislative updates will be provided to include information regarding nursing home law developments and regulations. A new session will address how to avoid pitfalls involving families and the representation of elders.

In town for Nashville's Country Music Festival? Need an hour or more of CLE? The Tennessee Bar Association will offer convenient and flexible CLE on June 8-10 at the Tennessee Bar Center, 221 Fourth Ave. North. Programs will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take as many or as few hours as you need.

On May 24, a CLE program on family law and the life cycle of a divorce will be held at the Bar Center. Sessions will cover the discovery process and include a panel presentation on social media that addresses both technology and evidentiary aspects. Speakers will address the mediation process and how best to prepare clients. A judges' panel will feature Judge Sheila Calloway, Judge Michael W. Binkley, Judge James Martin and Judge Clara W. Byrd. Sessions will also include legislative updates and preserving the record for appeal.

This year's preventing legal malpractice CLE will focus on risk management tools. Learn ways to develop a strategy of review and implementation for the law office operation. Bulletproofing your practice in these small ways allows you to concentrate on your clients rather than the day-to-day operation of your firm. It will be held on May 11 at the Bar Center in Nashville and provide three hours of dual credit.

Join the TBA on May 19 for a CLE on entertainment and sports law at the Belmont University College of Law. Sessions will cover a Supreme Court update focusing on hot button trademark and copyright cases and the state of music licensing.
