On Sept. 21, this year’s Court Square series kicks off in Chattanooga at Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel. Kevin Christopher will address common intellectual property issues for general practitioners. Jay Elliott will cover issues attorneys may encounter when handling matters with in-house counsel and Chris Varner will provide a summary of litigation updates. On Sept. 19, a TBA CLE webcast presentation by Yarnell Beatty will touch on the capabilities of telemedicine, licensure requirements for providers, state and federal regulation as to how it is delivered, billing and payment, barriers to delivery, and future trends. Sessions will include an introduction to international tax issues, tax issues in hiring family members, lien subordination issues, and licensing and taxing issues in a multi-state practice. The TBA will host a CLE on LGBT law in Nashville on Sept. 22. This year's annual forum will discuss updates in legislation and case law affecting the LGBT community, as well as immigration and asylum issues regarding the recent travel ban. Also included is a session on how to represent LGBT clients in a rural setting and advocate for LGBT youth on a local level. A final session will cover ethical considerations regarding diversity, inclusion, and the ABA Model Rule 8.4(g) prohibiting discrimination.

On Sept. 20, the TBA will host a CLE on creditors practice. This year's program will provide new information on creditors practice in estate claims and an update on the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Other topics include a crash course in bankruptcy and an ethics session about the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Check out the new Elder Law Basics CLE on Sept. 14 at the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville. Two sessions will focus on government benefits, including Medicaid, and a review of VA benefits.
