The TBA Adoption Law section will hold a reception immediately following its first annual forum on June 28 at the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville. Section members and practitioners are invited (attendance to the CLE is not required, but recommended). The reception will be held on June 28, 3:15 p.m. in the Tennessee Bar Center's 5th Floor Terrace Room.

Held on June 20, this webcast will cover the current events affecting the captive insurance industry. We will go over the changes made in the 2015 PATH Act and subsequent developments in the wake of those changes, including recent PATH Act amendments made in the 2018 Consolidated Appropriations Act. We will discuss the impact that the 2017 tax reform will have on the captive insurance industry. We will also review the recent Avrahami decision out of the U.S. Tax Court and the tax status of captives. We will also look ahead to the potential growth for agency captives and health care captives.

A new program presented by the TBA's recently formed Adoption Law Section will focus on changes to adoption law including a session about modifications to Tennessee's Adoption Code and the First in Adoption Act sponsored by the TBA in this year’s General Assembly. Practice leaders on June 28 will give a special session about effectuating legislative change with an emphasis on grass roots involvement. Lunch will be included with registration, and the forum will be followed by a social hour.
