The 2019 Tennessee Court of Appeals Boot Camp allows lawyers to observe oral arguments in real cases being presented to the court, followed by analysis and discussion on preparation, tips and considerations for deciding to seek review in the state Supreme Court. Throughout the month of November, those needing CME credit can tune in to four webcasts sponsored by the TBA’s Dispute Resolution Section. The series begins tomorrow with Mediation Advocacy and continues on Nov. 12 with Arbitration Basics, on Nov. 19 with the Benefits of Mediation in Trusts, Estates and Conservatorships and on Nov. 21 with Mediation Ethics. The TBA’s Immigration Law Fall Forum set for Nov. 22 includes some of the most relevant topics in today’s ever changing immigration landscape. Presented by experienced leaders and judges in the field, this program will focus on how to get information from the government, how to litigate in immigration court, and how to litigate immigration issues in federal court. Earn up to three hours of general CLE credit.

The TBA is bringing its Elder Law Basics programming to Fentress County this Friday. The six-hour program is designed for attorneys new to the practice as well as those looking to expand their knowledge in this area. This year’s program will focus on the “ins and outs” of public benefits pertaining to seniors, special needs trusts, veteran's benefits, general practice tips and more.

This year’s Administrative Law Forum, set for Nov. 15, will include a panel discussion of the agency deference doctrine, a session delving into the implications of policymaking and rulemaking, and an ethics session that includes updates from the BPR and an ethical analysis of ex parte communications. The TBA will be in Jackson and Columbia tomorrow for Court Square CLE programs. Both will offer a Q&A session on the TBA’s new Association Group Health Insurance and other insurance options available to Tennessee lawyers.
