The TBA will offer a free webcast next Friday, March 20, from noon to 1 p.m. central time. The webcast, “Tennessee Law in the Time of Pandemic,” is based on the March 2020 Tennessee Bar Journal cover story, and will be presented by the article author William Shults. The session will explore the latest information on what Tennessee lawyers need to know about the COVID-19 virus, including relevant statutory provisions, applicable regulations and rights under quarantine or isolation. The course will offer one hour of CLE credit.

This year's Entertainment & Sports Law Forum will focus on the industry's vision for 2020 and beyond. Speakers will address some of the most cutting-edge legal issues in music, entertainment and sports, including the increasing use of artificial intelligence, the role of influencers and attorney well being in a society addicted to being "busy." A networking reception will follow the program.

The 24th Annual Labor & Employment Law Forum — set for May 1 in Nashville — will provide case law updates, an ethics component, and sessions on employee privacy and wage and hour laws. The program also will feature a panel of arbitrators providing insights into best practices for handling employment cases in arbitration, and a panel of appellate court judges talking about presentation practices for handling employment cases at the appellate level.

The TBA’s 2020 Animal Law Forum will provide updates on trends and advancements in animal law, while attendees enjoy fun activities at the Nashville Zoo. The zoo’s president and chief executive officer will be on hand to discuss conservation efforts, laws affecting procurement and care for zoo animals and more. The program will take place on April 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nashville Zoo, 3777 Nolensville Pike. Zoo admission, breakfast and lunch are included with the program.

The TBA’s International Law Forum will take place March 27 at the Tennessee Bar Center. The program provides resources for Tennessee lawyers practicing in all aspects of international law, with a particular focus on international business. Knowledgeable and experienced presenters will provide important and timely information around key topics such as cross border taxation, dangers of distribution and foreign investment. Join your colleagues to earn five credit hours (including one hour of ethics credit) and stay for a networking reception at the end of the program!

The TBA’s Immigration Law Winter Forum will provide updates and trending issues in immigration and an overview of the many procedural and policy changes that have taken place during the last few years. The TBA Business Law Section will hold its annual forum on April 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville. The course will focus on a number of key tax matters relevant to business law practice in Tennessee, including choice of entity, taxation of LLCs, hot topics in entity-based transactional tax planning, state tax incentives and federal opportunity zones. The 2020 Intellectual Property Law Forum will take place in Nashville on April 17. Attendees can expect to hear presentations on a variety of IP topics, including trade secrets, IP protections for the cannabis industry and trademark issues within the alcohol industry. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Tennessee Bar Center in Nashville, 221 Fourth Avenue North. Guests will earn four-hours of general CLE credit and one-hour of dual credits. Join your colleagues for the 2020 Dispute Resolution Forum on April 24 and hear from a distinguished group of speakers discussing current legal, ethical and practical issues relating to ADR practice, as well as an update on case law. This forum has been carefully crafted to provide timely and practical information for both lawyers and mediators. It also will touch on a variety of practice areas, including a session on mediating family law cases and a session on designing an enforceable employee dispute resolution system. The course provides 4 general credits and 2.25 dual credits for both CLE and CME.

Take a deep dive into post adoption contract agreements during the TBA’s 2020 Adoption Law Forum on April 14. General counsel from the Tennessee Department of Children's Services will also be on hand to provide an update on legislation affecting the profession.
