The Intellectual Property Law Forum — which will now be a virtual CLE event — will be held over two days on July 15-16. The first day of the program will provide accounts of bad actors running afoul of trade secret law, provide insight into the life of hackers, and then finish with ways to avoid trouble with online information. The sessions run from 1 to 4 p.m. CDT. Attendees can earn one dual and two general CLE hours. On day two, the program will explore the various forms of available IP protection for the cannabis industry and insights into how best to distinguish and protect home brew. Those sessions run from 1 to 3 p.m. CDT. Attendees can earn two general CLE hours. Since the Entertainment and Sports Law Section could not hold its annual forum this past spring, the section executive council has planned a series of webcasts for the summer. The first installment "Busy is a Bad Word" will take place June 30 at 1 p.m. CDT and will look at how society’s definition of success can lead to stress, illness and dissatisfaction. The one-hour program will explore how to detach from the addiction of being busy, what self-care means, and how to create and maintain lifestyle changes to improve well-being without damaging productivity.

The 17th Annual TBA Bankruptcy Law Forum will take place Nov. 13-15 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Gatlinburg. The event kicks off with two-hours of CLE programming that will highlight bankruptcy case law updates and the Small Business Reorganization Act, H.R. 3311. Those sessions are followed by a networking reception and dinner at the Park Grill. During the second day of programming, prominent bankruptcy judges will lead small breakout groups in discussing case problems that bring into focus recent developments in the law and real world problems that bankruptcy practitioners face. The TBA Real Estate Law Section will host its 2020 Hot Topics Forum on Nov. 13 at the Nashville School of Law. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CST. Lunch will be provided for those who join us in person. For those not comfortable attending in person, a virtual option will be offered.

The TBA's Adoption Law Forum 2020 now will take place on Sept. 24. Join us in person or online to take a deep dive into post-adoption contract agreements, including recent changes to and ethics surrounding the use of PACAs. General counsel from the Tennessee Department of Children's Services also will be on hand to provide an update on legislation affecting the profession. A networking reception will follow the program, allowing you to meet TBA and section leaders.

The TBA's 2020 Annual LGBT Forum will be a virtual event on June 26 — the five-year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision recognizing marriage rights for all Americans. The team that assisted with and argued the case of Obergefell v. Hodges will unite to reexamine and remember this important case, providing insights into the preparation and proceedings that ultimately led to the court's historic decision. The program will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT (with a one-hour break for lunch) and offer four hours of CLE credit. Login information will be provided after registration.

The TBA’s Animal Law Forum 2020 will take place Sept. 18 at the Nashville Zoo and will provide updates on trends and advancements in animal law. The zoo’s president and chief executive officer will be on hand to discuss conservation efforts, laws affecting procurement, care for zoo animals and more. Four other speakers will cover topics such as wildlife conservation in the state, farm animals and the law, veterinary malfeasance, cases involving injuries caused by animals, and a legislative update. Programming will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT Zoo admission, breakfast and lunch are included.
