The TBA's 2020 Disability Law Forum is taking place virtually on Aug. 21. The program will cover a variety of topics, including ethical issues, legal technology and law office management tips. Additionally, vocational consultant Michelle McBroom Weiss will present a session on effective cross examination, transferable skills analysis and more; and Judge H. Scott Williams will provide a closer look at the Social Security disability hearing process. The program will offer three dual and two general hours of CLE credit. The TBA Administrative Law Section will host a live Zoom webcast on Aug. 26 from noon to 1 p.m. on new procedures being used by the Administrative Procedures Division. Administrative Judge Phillip R. Hilliard and Jackson attorney Jonathan O. Steen with Spragins, Barnett & Cobb will discuss how electronic filings, exhibits, remote hearings and final orders are being handled during the pandemic. The TBA’s 2020 Summer FastTrack program will be held as a virtual program with sessions specifically designed for practitioners in  the Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville areas. The TBA will celebrate the upcoming 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage by examining Tennessee’s role in the ratification of the 19th Amendment. On Aug. 18 from noon to 1 p.m. CDT, catch a rebroadcast of a presentation from award-winning journalist and author Elaine Weiss, given during the TBA’s 2020 Virtual Convention. Weiss will take viewers through the story of Tennessee and its monumental role in the ratification of the 19th amendment during the centennial anniversary, honor the key players and celebrate this moment in history and its impact on the legal profession. Need a quick update in the areas of law you deal with every day? The TBA’s 2020 Summer FastTrack program will be held virtually via live webcast with sessions specifically designed for practitioners in Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville. The TBA will offer the live Zoom webcast Making the Most of Technology: Bringing Virtual Legal Proceedings Closer to Home on Aug. 5 from noon to 1 p.m. CDT. Attendees can expect to hear a discussion on the benefits of incorporating legal technology into attorneys’ arguments and an explanation of the efficient development and appropriate use of demonstratives. The program will also cover tips and tricks for creating persuasive visual aids and choosing the right technology necessary to present arguments while being budget-minded. The TBA's Summer 2020 CLE Blast continues this week with a session planned on Friday from noon to 3 p.m. CDT on persuasive legal writing. As part of the Summer CLE Blast, the TBA will rebroadcast the two-part 2019 Ethics Roadshow program this Thursday, starting at 10 a.m. CDT. Lewis Thomason attorney Brian Faughnan will offer a crash course on important changes to ethics rules, how those changes will potentially impact the legal landscape and a discussion of ethics rules that remain important to know and comply with.
